iDiscover Journey

Meet Jezan eveyboyd
No need to mention the date I guess... huh?
well I was gonna start off the blog with writing the date but then I realized that would be silly. wouldn't it?

I am currently in Irvine, CA attending/co-coordinating a two week training program for a much bigger project called iDiscover. dndndndnnn... again, huh?

The iDiscover project is a nation wide project in which we will be city hopping in Saudi to hold a two week camp for 5 months. The cities are Hayl, Jeddah, Yanbu,  Jezan and -my personal fav.- alHasa!
I am eager to visit those cities that I never thought I would ever be seeing (well except for alHasa and Jeddah).

I am excited to see Jezan, Hayl and Yanbu.... I can only imagine them being so interesting and cut-off from the world.. erhm

one of those blue days

Hey my cyber self,

Today is one of those mysteriously sad days. We all go through these kind of days
several times a year if not several times a month.

As a muslim, I like to believe that it is a form of redemption or cleansing. That actually eases the whole matter a little. It makes sadness more acceptable.

and It went well..

heeey peeps (though I do believe that this is a ghost town)..

So the movement went awesomely, I loved how people reacted and got engaged with it
it was really wonderful.
after the movement, a couple of people contacted me and said they wanted to be part of AYCM Saudi Arabia which made it even awesomer,,

Life is getting along and I am getting a long.
Tomorrow is my last day of volunteering with SFPE - SAC and I'm a little bummed because
I wont be seeing my person that often anymore but I am psyched for I will be able
to sleep like a normal person again!

I'll leave you with some of the tweets from the 10/11/2012 AYCM Saudi Arabia movement.

and have a marvelous day!

Arab Youth Climate Change Movement Day of Action - Saudi Arabia

Tired Tired and TIRED,
The only thing that is keeping me sane right now is my cat who is sitting right beside my macbook.

I got the chance to organize a wonderful movement about climate change here is Saudi Arabia. The movement is initiated by AYCM. AYCM are a group of young Arabs who decided to do something about all the madness that is going on in our planet.
I'm pretty sure Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, are hugely responsible for these greenhouse gasses emissions. after all, we are the oil producers!
and believe me I'm not saying it as a proud happy Saudi person. I am saying it as a pissed creature who thinks that Earth it not ours to break.

Our movement in Saudi Arabia is  going to be on Twitter where most young people meet nowadays.
The idea is to tweet different climate change facts or even personal thoughts about climate change under the hastag #SaudiAYCM.
I contacted a few tweeters but unfortunately I am gonna have to provide the climate change facts to most of these enthusiastic tweeters.

so, URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!

oh well.

Zaina Squid

Insert title here..

I have decided to take this blog seriously even though it was originally made for a
summer program. The summer program was about, surprise surprise, New Media. Ironically, I blew everything I worked for during that summer program and completely ignored the blog!
So,,
the reasons behind me wanting to use this OH SO effective tool are listed below:
1- Life these days operates on Social Media. Therefore, I need this
2- I can use my blog to promote my ideas no matter how weird they are
3- Read other blogs and become virtually active
4- I need to vent out sometimes so this would be really REALLY useful

There you have it.
For now I'll just say good night for the people living in this part of the world, and
have a great day for the other half of people.

toodles,
Zaina Squid.

Learning Photoshop..

So,, we had a quick, very beneficial, intro to photoshop. I am kinda familiar to it but I'm no expert so I learned a lot from the walk through. Our topic was creating media passes. My Mac failed to download Photoshop because of the horrible internet connection and for that Jeejee and I worked together on the same machine. Both Jeejee and I agreed that our final outcome is a major fail. Oh well, we are learning .... c:

Our weird looking media pass attempt
